This is the first-ever live video webcast by the Supreme Court. The webcast will be shown on the Court's website.
Incidentally, the U.S. Supreme Court does provide audio (but not video) recordings of oral arguments shortly after the end of arguments. The U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit has some live oral arguments, as well as audio and video of past arguments on its own website along with videos on YouTube.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6578860987885162333.post-54584048978316443752016-05-11T14:31:00.000-07:002016-05-11T14:31:08.670-07:00Federal Legislative Research: Thomas and Congress.govIf you've searched for legislative history of recent federal bills or law, you've probably used Thomas.gov. U.S. -- a case involving application of the phrase "tangible object" to a fish -- Justice Elena Kagan said, "A fish is, of course, a discrete thing that possesses physical form. See generally Dr. Seuss, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish (1960)."

As Prof. Eugene Volokh notes, this is the first citation of Dr. Seuss in a Supreme Court opinion. However, a little searching on Lexis Advance, WestlawNext, HeinOnline, or the like reveals that Dr. Seuss and "One Fish ..." have popped up in various other cases and legal materials.

Incidentally, in announcing the Yates plurality opinion from the bench, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg also exercised some poetic license: "Fish one may fry ... but may one falsify, or make a false entry in the sea dwelling creatures?"

The Western State library is scheduled to stay open until 2 am during reading period and finals, to accommodate those who prefer to study during the late night.

The library reserve desk has binders of past exams in many courses. (Disclaimer: Not all exams in all courses are available.) You can ask a librarian or other library employee for past exams, and take the exams you want briefly out of the binder to make a copy.

Also, Western State students have access to CALI, which includes materials that you might find useful in preparing for exams (especially if your professors have assigned or recommended them). If you need access to or have questions about CALI, please contact Scott Frey or another Western State librarian.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6578860987885162333.post-28399144672797184032014-10-30T12:06:00.000-07:002014-10-30T12:06:31.881-07:00U.S. Supreme Court researchThe U.S. Supreme Court has improved its website during the last couple of years, so that it's easy to find recent opinions, orders, and other information from the Court.
